Emile Schmid

My name is Henri Charles Schmid. My Dad, Emile Schmid was imprisoned somewhere on the Birma Railroad Camps, after he was transferred there from the Tjimahi, Java Concentration camp for males.

He did not make it. However he has a "head stone" in his memory at the Kanchanaburi War Memorial Cemetery. My guess is that he is buried somewhere near where he died. My question is: " Is there anybody out there who has known my Dad & can tell me something about him?"

At the time we were living in The Dutch East Indies (Indonesia) where he was the Administrator for a Java tea plantation (the Gedeh). My Mother, two sisters & I were imprisoned on Java in the Tjideng and Tjihapit camps.

This request must be like a "needle in a hay stack". However, why not give it a try. It's always been an empty feeling to have so few memories of my Dad. By some real luck I received a series of art drawings he made while in Tjimahi. It gives me some relief because in those drawings he is telling some interesting stories.

If you have any information, please write send email.
